Juvederm® vs Radiesse®: Choosing a Dermal Filler

Avelure Med Spa offers both Juvederm® and Radiesse®. They are both dermal fillers, but they are built differently and shine in different places.

What Juvederm® is

Juvederm® is one of the most trusted families of hyaluronic acid, based dermal fillers, designed to restore volume, smooth facial lines, and enhance features with a natural look and feel. Because Juvederm® includes multiple filler types, your provider can choose the right product based on your goals, the area being treated, and how subtle or defined you want your results.

Juvederm® is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally exists in the body. Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds moisture, which is why it can create soft volume and smoothness when placed correctly.

A useful property: Because Juvederm® is hyaluronic acid, based, it can typically be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This is one of the reasons hyaluronic acid fillers are widely trusted and commonly chosen.

What Radiesse® is

Radiesse® is a dermal filler designed to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds while also helping support your skin’s natural structure. Many clients choose Radiesse® because it can create immediate improvement in areas like smile lines and lower-face definition, while also supporting longer-term skin quality.

Radiesse® works differently than many fillers because it is known for providing lift and structure while also encouraging collagen and elastin support over time. At Avelure Med Spa, Radiesse® treatments are planned around your facial anatomy and goals, with an emphasis on natural-looking enhancement rather than overcorrection. Your provider will recommend the right approach based on what you want to improve, where you are losing definition, and how subtle or noticeable you want your result to be.

Radiesse® is commonly used for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds like nasolabial folds. It is also used to correct volume loss in the back of the hands. It is not known to be safe or effective in the lips or the area around the eyes.

How they compare

  • Material: Juvederm® is hyaluronic acid based; Radiesse® is known for providing lift and structure while encouraging collagen and elastin support over time.
  • Juvederm® longevity: Longevity depends on the product used and the area treated. Some lip-focused fillers may last closer to 6 to 12 months, while structural fillers like Voluma® can last longer. Your provider can set expectations based on your plan.
  • Radiesse® longevity: Many clients choose Radiesse® because results can be long-lasting, and the treatment may provide both immediate improvement and longer-term skin benefits. Your longevity depends on treatment area, metabolism, and the plan your provider designs for you.
  • Radiesse® vs Radiesse® (+): Both are dermal fillers used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as smile lines. Radiesse® (+) includes lidocaine for added comfort and is also indicated for improving moderate to severe loss of jawline contour in adults over 21. Your provider will recommend which option fits your

Which is right for you?

The right filler depends on the area being treated and the look you want. Juvederm® is a family of fillers, so the right product depends on your treatment area and goals. Your provider will recommend the best type during your consultation based on your anatomy, desired look, and how much lift or softness is needed.
